DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS NOW CANCELLED.\n  \nW&P Novices Fun 6 Bell Striking Competition and Training Event at Sherfield on Loddon\, RG27 0JB (Basingstoke District) \nOn Saturday 4th October 2025. \nAfter the success of last years competition\, we are planning to run event to benefit the Guild’s learners who would benefit from rounds or call changes and are looking for help and support to boost their ability and confidence.\nYou can enter as a team of 6 ringers\, or as an individual and we will assign you to a team. Please remember that in the spirit of the competition we are NOT expecting a team of experienced ringers to apply!\nWe will be limiting the event to 36 participants so please apply early. The competition will be either Rounds and Call Changes. \nPlanned Event Programme\n11.15 – 12.15 – you meet at a designated tower for a practice session with your team mentor\, provided by the organisers.\n12.30 – 13.30 – buffet lunch and an opportunity to chat with fellow competitors. There will be limited seating so please munch and mingle.\n13.30 – 15.00 approx – Fun Striking Competition with positive comments from friendly judges. \nTo be eligible for this event you must:\n•Be a learner who would benefit from the experience of ringing in a competition\n•Be competent to ring a bell unaided in Rounds and have some experience with call changes.  \nThere will be a charge of £5 – £10 per participant\, which will cover donations to towers and the cost of lunch etc.  \nAny questions to petejordan.wp@talktalk.net

DESCRIPTION:Sherfield on Loddon \n\nMessage from Adam Greenley\, District Ringing Master:\n\n“I would like to start having some different focus methods at the District Practices to vary a little more what we ring. These will be in addition to the usual diet of rounds and call changes\, Plain Bob and Grandsire. I am hoping it will provide a little bit of challenge at all levels!\n\nFor those who can plain hunt to Plain Bob or Grandsire – treble to St Simon’s and St Martin’s. With these methods the bells are in a different order on the way back down to the way up.\n\nFor those who can plain hunt on 6 and ring Plain Bob and Grandsire inside\, we will ring Single Oxford Bob Minor. This will include plain courses and touches.\n\nFor those who can already ring surprise\, we will have a focus on London.
