I’m delighted that 3 teams from our Guild were among the 43 from across the country who took part in the Ringing World National Youth Contest in Nottingham last Saturday. I hope you will join me in congratulating them.
The W&P Youths came second in the 8-bell section in what was, yet again, a very close competition. I would also like to pay special credit to the younger ringers in the W&P Youths 6 bells team and to the recently re-formed Vectis Youths from the Isle of Wight district who were entering the contest for the first time.
It is really good to see so many of our young ringers taking part in a National competition and I know that the weekend was a very enjoyable experience for them.
I would like to give my thanks to Andy Ingram and our Youth Ringing Committee and to Kieran Downer for the work they have done to get the teams to the contest. I must also thank all the parents and helpers who supported the young ringers at the contest and at monthly practices throughout the year.
Several of the W&P Youths will be turning 19 this year so this was their last competition. If you have any under-18s at your tower who aren’t already involved in our youth ringing scene please encourage them to join and help us continue our success in the years to come. For more information, please contact Andy Ingram – his contact details are on the Guild’s home page.
Best wishes
