The day includes the Inter-District 8-bell Striking Competition which takes place at St John’s, New Alresford, starting at 10.00 a.m. We have tried to make the day as interesting as possible both for those taking part in the competition, and those not taking part in the competition, so have arranged opportunities for everyone to ring on the following rings of bells:

10.30 – 11.30 New Alresford – The Stoney Hills Ring – 8 bells, Tenor 0-2-22 in E♭
11.00 – 12.00 St Mary’s, Old Alresford – 6 bells, Tenor 10-0-9 in G
11.30 – 12.30 St Michael’s, Cheriton -6 bells, Tenor 6-1-26 in B♭
12.00 – 1.00 St Nicholas’, Bishops Sutton -5 bells, Tenor 7-3-0 in G♯
  1.00 – 2.30 St Peter’s, Ropley – 6 bells, Tenor 15-0-23 in F♯

Tea, coffee and cake will be served in St John’s for the competitors, and
anyone else coming to listen to the competition ringing.

The Stoney Hills Ring are a short walk from St John’s. Parking in New Alresford is limited so for the location of the Stoney Hills Ring and parking, please refer to the map which can be downloaded here.

The bells at St Peter’s have only just been restored and this will be the first opportunity for visiting ringers to ring on them since the church was destroyed
by fire, almost eleven years ago to the day. The bells are a magnificent Gillett & Johnson six cast in 1927. Between 1.00 and 2.30 p.m. a buffet lunch will be served in St Peter’s whilst general ringing takes place. To assist with the catering, please book your lunch by leaving your name and home tower here no later than Wednesday 11th June.

Lunch and general ringing will be followed by a short service at 2.30 p.m.
For those not wishing to attend the service, the Temperance Hall Coffee Rooms will be available, in case it rains. Following this the meeting will take place, including the Striking Competition results and the Guild AGM at 3 p.m.
