Absolutely delighted to report that the W&P Youth Method band WON the method ringing section of the Ringing World National Youth Contest (RWNYC) held in All Saints, Huntington, York on Saturday 8th July 2023.
The team of dedicated young ringers rang a brilliant test piece to take the Whitechapel Trophy this year!
Representing towers from across the Guild, the W&P Method Band were:
Ellen Barber, Erin Ingram, Stephen Wise, Isla Ingram, Peter Maddams (C) and Mitchell Reeve.
Congratulations also to the W&P Call Change band, who delivered a great performance to come 12th= out of 18 teams!
The Call Change competition was held at St Lawrence, York, with teams competing for the Robert Lewis Trophy for Excellence.
Again, representing towers from across the Guild, the W&P Call Change Band were:
Erin Halder, Lauren Kidd, Oliver Maddams (C), Evan Pearce, Charlotte Mossop, Emily Burslem, Katherine Wilkins and Sam Marriott.
Many congratulations to all of them!
Some very talented youngsters coming through, and definitely ones to watch for the future!
The Ringing World National Youth Contest is not just about the competition, but provided a wonderful day of ringing at Towers across the City of York. All the Guild/Association teams had the opportunity to ring at York Minster, including ringing the 59cwt tenor!
Special thanks to the parents and adults who have supported both teams in their preparations over the past few months, and especially to Andy Ingram, our amazing W&P Youth Team Leader!
This fantastic annual event for young ringers, is hosted each year at different locations across the UK.
The support and encouragement of the organising team lead by David Hull, has been amazing, and their open approach and vision is inspirational.
