What to Expect on a Guild Training Day
The W&P Guild Training Days seek to provide a full day of tuition, led by a tutor who is experienced in delivering the course offered, supported by experienced group leaders and helpers. Depending on popularity of the course, there may be up to four separate groups of no more than 5 students, who will ring at different towers during the day.
On arrival at the venue for the start of the course, tea/coffee and biscuits will generally be provided, while you have an informal period to meet your tutor / leader, helpers and other students. The day formally starts with a 45 minute tutorial on your chosen subject followed by a 90 minute practical session in a tower.
This is followed by lunch in a local pub (costs not covered by the Guild).
Depending on the course, there may be an additional theory session after lunch. The afternoon will comprise a further 90 minute practical session, following which we will all meet back at the original venue where tea and cakes will be provided. Course notes will generally be circulated to students after the event.
Although we generally follow this structure, some courses may follow a different pattern, when appropriate. You will be sent an outline of the day if you are accepted for a course.
